CASE STUDY · OFFSHORE WIND
One control room for three offshore wind farms
Twelve independent supplier systems across three offshore wind farms were brought together into one common control room.
1The challenge
The operator needed one common control room system for three offshore wind farms. Each farm had four independent supplier systems, covering turbines, wind farm operation and transmission assets onshore and offshore. As critical national infrastructure, all integration and testing had to be sequenced around live operations and an ongoing construction programme.
2Our solution
- Architecture and cyber security design, hardware and cabinet build
- Integration over OPC UA and IEC 60870-5-104 into one operator picture
- Signal databases, alarm philosophy, alarm rationalisation and HMI implementation
- Life cycle simulator for operator training and verification
- FAT, SAT and UAT, installation, commissioning, training and a support agreement
3The result
- Twelve supplier systems across three wind farms in one operator picture
- Delivered into live operations on critical national infrastructure
- Operators trained and verified on the simulator before go-live
- Alarm philosophy and rationalisation across more than 200 000 signals
